Aerosmith has postponed six upcoming concerts as singer Steven Tyler heals from a serious vocal injury for the next month.
The 75-year-old frontman said Monday that the incident occurred during Aerosmith's Saturday show in Long Island, New York.
"I'm heartbroken to say I have received strict doctor's orders not to sing for the next thirty days. I sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday’s show that led to subsequent bleeding," reads Tyler's statement, shared on the band's social media accounts. "We’ll need to postpone a few dates so that we can come back and give you the performance you deserve.”
As Tyler recuperates, new dates for the impacted cities have been set for Chicago (Feb. 14), Washington, D.C. (Feb. 17), Toronto (Feb. 21), Raleigh, North Carolina (Feb. 26) and Cleveland, Ohio (Feb. 29).
Existing tickets will be honored for the rescheduled shows, but ticketholders can also obtain refunds at their point of purchase if they are unable to attend.
The quartet of irrepressible frontman Steven Tyler, virtuoso guitarist Joe Perry, steadfast bassist Tom Hamilton and guitarist Brad Whitford are celebrating their 50th anniversary by circling North America with a final run of 40 dates. Peace Out: The Farewell Tour kicked off Sept. 2 in Philadelphia with a shiny production that felt intimate in an arena but big enough that it could have filled a stadium.
Previously, the tour was scheduled to wrap on Jan. 26, 2024, in Montreal.
